A group of citizens would like to organize a marché de solidarité régionale (Network of local food producers and consumers) in the Outaouais in order to facilitate access to locally grown food (vegetables, meats, transformed products, etc.) through the flexibility of Internet. This sale system links consumers directly to the producers. It is a simple way to encourage local farmers and reduce the mileage our food travels and also improve freshness.
Basic principals behind the market:
- Local farmers post the produce available on the Internet web page.
- Members of the market place order on-line and pick it up weekly at a drop off point in town.
- The market runs mainly through the participation of volunteers.

An information meeting was held on November 5 in Gatineau. Read the report (document in French).
On January 2008, around 200 citizens of the Outaouais had filled the above survey and confirmed their interest in the projet.
This initiative is supported by the Table de concertation agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais (TCAO), the Société d’aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) de Papineau, the Centre local de développement (CLD) de Papineau and the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ).
